About
Haddhunmathi Maabaidhoo Council was established under the Decentralization of the Administrative Divisions of the Maldives Act. Chapter 8 of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives provides that administrative areas shall be governed on the principle of decentralization. The People's Majlis passed the Act to set out the foundations for administering those areas and the institutions, powers and responsibilities required to run the system. The President ratified it on Monday, 17 May 2010, in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution.
The vision of the council
For Haddhunmathi Maabaidhoo to be a joyful, prosperous island where devoted Muslim citizens live, and which has achieved notable success economically, socially, structurally, educationally and in health among the islands of the Maldives.
